Ramadhaan Twenty One: From the Light of the Qur'an

Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem

[Suratul Asr]

Suratul Asr begins with Allaah swearing by Time...Saying Everyone is in loss..."wal Asr, innal insaana lafii khusr"

The entire Surah is only a single sentence, although divided into three Ayaats. This gives us the idea that an Ayaat is different from a sentence.

So why does Allaah swear by the time??
-to answer this, let's look at why people swear in the first place...

-it could be out of Anger
-to Reinforce a statement in order to be believed
-to testify
- in old Arabic an additional reason is to grab attention

But then finally, a reason that is unique to the Qur'an, - to give evidence or describe a witness.

so All this put together Allaah says, "I swear by time, human beings are in loss"
-perhaps He's angry
-He's reinforcing so people could take it more seriously, they aren't believing
- He's tesfiying
-and He's grabbing our attention

But the Quranic reason, which is the most powerful emphasizes that Allaah will bring what He swore by to a reality
-Allaah is using time as an evidence and the greatest witness that human beings are in loss.
Time has watched and observed as nations after nations were destroyed, it has witness the mistakes we human makes over and over again, our regrets, wrong decisions, and its still a witness over the fact that we are constantly losing time itself and misusing it.

We are in loss of time, we can't get even a second back, and time takes a lot from us, it makes us lose stuff too, our wealth, our health, youth, strength, we lose all these over time.

And Allaah paints a picture of human beings drowning, and immersed in like the sea of loss and time is the greatest evidence of that...SubhanAllaah...

to be continued in sha Allaah...
