Unplug From This Dunya

Unplug from this Dunya or do you not see...
How today you're alive and tomorrow you cease to be
If it was so important why would it flee so easily??

Nay! But the Dunya is but a passing moment...
fleeting in its nature, with temporary enjoyment...
and the hereafter is better and long lasting if they only knew...

but most of them are attached to it, all are heedless but a few...

And why?! if the Dunya and what's in it where worth as much as a fly,
do you think Allah would let the disbelievers have even a taste of water,
after denying and disbelieving...oh but do you not ponder?

And everything we see today, and all that passed us yesterday

we realize and understand that they were made to pass away...

And our souls won't be spared
for of course they'd be heard

when they respond to all the questions about instructions they had read...

you see this life my dear, it draws like magnet those who go near

and if you're carried away by the pomp and castles,
it has already been said “Alhaakumuttakaathur”!
Abundance diverts you!
but “kalla saufa ta'alamoon”,
and you will see it very soon
that all by which you were distracted, would be of no benefit to you

rather they may cause your doom!!

So but what is the solution, since this dunya we've been put in...
its that we take it out off our hearts and to Allah we must keep looking

And we use all that is acquired to gain closeness to Him
And do all that is required to gain acceptance from Him...

The wealth, the children, the knowledge and the status...
These are all the ni'mah from the one who has made us...
And if we truly seek salvation then we must use them to get to Him...

for  "thumma latus alunna yauma idhin anin Na'eem"
[Then on that day you shall most certainly be questioned about the boons. Surah At-takaathur]

may Allaah make us of those who use the Ni'mah/blessings/gifts He has granted us in this dunya Not as a means of getting distracted from Him, but as a means to get closer to Him and grant us His acceptance and Mercy. Aameen.

Except The Mukhliseen

So shaytaan made a promise, do you remember what he said?
“…I will surely make [evil] attractive to them on earth and I will cause them to be misled”
But he made an exception, for with them he dare not try
He said “except, among them, the Mukhliseen” and this is the reason why;
They keep their duties to Allah, they are devoted and sincere
Remembering Him and Obeying Him; their hearts are pure and clear
Their efforts are towards Him; with Him they associate no partners
They leave out sins and avoid them because for the hearts, they are hardeners
Their gaze on Allah is fixed, their intentions are never mixed, they know about his tricks so they chase him with their bricks…of Imaan
And Allah has got their backs, because to Him they always turn,
Seeking forgiveness when they slip into that against which He warned
And when they are tested, he kinda hopes he gets a way
But if they are patient, Allaah cleanses them all the way
And Khalas!  They are freed in the end, liberated from the shackles of Sin
They succeed and gain acceptance because they were of the Mukhliseen.

With Eyes of Compassion

What our eyes see goes directly to our hearts,
And the hearts in turn begin to feel, a concomitant of our gaze
So borrow your sights O muslims from the ocean of Compassion
So you see the good as it is, and the bad with empathy
As muslims we are taught to make excuses
One after another, one for the other
So we live with mutual love, and in unity
And sometimes you know, we make excuses and though
They seem exhausted, what more reason could there be?
But really, we all are not perfect and maybe, just maybe
There’s another reason you may not see
So before taking offence or getting angry let us please
Think again and leave that little room for the excuse that may not have crossed our minds
And for mistakes, we feel responsible; and that’s a reflection of our maturity
So we see beyond the one who makes it and we seek only to correct it
And revenge is eliminated from our hearts; our egos annihilated
All that our hearts reflect is the warmth from the Eyes of Compassion

Curiosity Speaks

Listen to the Lament of Curiosity,
Listen to its words and reflect…
“O son of Adam where hath thou left me?
O son of Adam why hath thou abandoned me?
With me you had learned a lot of things,
From keeping away from the fire because it would hurt
To  why you need to sleep
But do you think that is enough??
Do you not want to know why you are alive?
Do you not want to know who controls all that is in the heavens and the earth?
Do you not want to understand what is going on around you?
Do you not want to know His message to you??
Do you not want to know that which will save you?
Or do you not want to know how this all would end?
What keeps u relaxed O son of Adam
You have abandoned me and found satisfaction in knowing so little
What great knowledge you have left behind because you have kept me aside
But perhaps if you had carried me along, you would have known
That this life is only a fleeting moment and everything would be gone
And that your Lord has indeed reserved a place for you, if you only knew
And to get there; there are certain things you must do
But how would you know all of these?? Your curiosity is gone…
So you go on ahead and take chances with your life
But don’t you realize that this is not just about you??
Have you thought of what to pass on to those that come after you
If those before had left me, would they have had anything to teach you?
Think! Reflect! and use me to learn
For your Lord will certainly ask you, what effort you had made…
To Learn and understand the message that He gave…
Have you thought of what to say??
O son of Adam, Seek knowledge and Implement it!
Before it’s too late…

The Gift of Guilt

Have you ever felt extremely guilty for something you had done?? So much that you despised yourself and thought you must be a terrible person…

I often beat myself up in such a situation, dwelling on what I should or should not have done…I would think over and over again about the same thing, especially if there was no practical way of righting the wrong!

But I have come to learn something really important in this, and I would like to share it so that perhaps someone that gets into a similar situation will gain from it in sha Allah.
Firstly, if you’ve ever felt this way or are feeling this way…take a deep breath…say, ALHAMDULILLAAH…and I will tell you why…

The prophet (salAllahu alayhi wa sallam) was reported to have said, “When the believer commits sin, a black spot appears on his heart. If he repents and gives up that sin and seeks forgiveness, his heart will be polished. But if (the sin) increases, (the black spot) increases….”
And what happens to a heart that is completely covered with these black spots?? Or in other words, completely hardened by sins??

Allah says, “Then, after that, your hearts were hardened and became as stones or even worse in hardness.” [Al-Baqarah 2:74]. Imam Al-Qurtubi said explaining this verse: “Hardness means rigidness, harshness and stiffness. It is an expression for (hearts) which are devoid of repentance and submissiveness to Allah’s Ayaat (signs and verses).” Tafsir Al-Qurtubi (1/430)]

And “Is he whose breast Allah has opened to Islam, so that he is in light from His Lord (as he who is non-Muslim)? So, woe to those whose hearts are hardened against remembrance of Allah! They are in plain error!” [Al-Zumar 39:22]

So when your heart is devoid of the light from Allah and is hardened as a result, you feel NO guilt at all, subhanAllah…you don’t even see anything wrong with what you’re doing even if it is against the commands of Allah, you neither submit no repent…means you’ve been stripped of  the ability to judge between right and wrong or you just don’t care anymore!! subhanAllah! (may Allah save us from this)

So, when you feel guilty know that there is light in your heart by Allah’s mercy that enables you to recognize that what you have done is wrong…and the guilt becomes something you should even be thankful to Allah for being able to feel…and what becomes the next course of action??

Make a decision, there and then to not go back on that wrong doing ever again!…cry to him and ask for His pardon, don’t ever think your sins are too great to be forgiven…He says as long as you turn to Him in repentance, sincerely He will forgive them All…and you know what more?? He will Change those sins to good deeds and what better reward for you than Al-Jannah in the end! subhanAllah.

"Except those who repent, have faith and do righteous deeds; for those Allah will change their sins into good deeds. Certainly Allah is most forgiving, Most merciful." (Qur'an 25:70)

So don’t delay-> “Race to the Forgiveness of your Lord and a paradise as wide as the heavens and the earth prepared for Al-Mutaquun” (Qur'an 3:133)

May Allah forgive us all and increase us all in Imaan. Aameen.
